City Region Development Programme, Sheffield City Council
We supported the Sheffield City Region partners in the development of their City Region Development Programme (CRDP), which was launched at the Northern Regeneration Conference in October 2006. The CRDP presented proposals for accelerating growth within the Sheffield City Region and actions for addressing the underlying weaknesses of its economy, in order to support the City Region’s objective of becoming by 2025:
'A pivotal international business location, closely connected to the major economic hubs of Leeds, Manchester and the South, recognised as one of the most successful city regions in Europe, sustained through the strengths of its distinctive urban and rural economies.’
Proposals in the Sheffield CRDP are designed to accelerate economic growth over the medium and long term. Successful delivery of the CRDP’s vision will contribute an additional £3.8 billion to the economy of the North of England and support the Northern Way’s objective of closing the output gap between the north and average for England.
