Glasgow Green Impact Study
The Brief: To analyse the full impacts and wider benefits of the £15 million investment in the physical fabric of Glasgow Green. The study was to develop a robust estimate of impact on the green and in the surrounding areas.
We were commissioned by Glasgow City Council to carry out a renewal benefits analysis of investment in Glasgow Green. The study involved developing an impact model covering business, property, tourism and social impacts. There was extensive consultation with stakeholders and developers as well as businesses located at the Green. An assessment of impact under each of the themes was carried out including development of new residential and commercial property, inward investment, employment creation, improved image and perceptions and visitor spend at events held at the Green. A full assessment of additionality and displacement was developed to assess the full net impact of the investment – both on the Green and in the surrounding area. The method for this study is now being considered for use by the Heritage Lottery Fund to assess the impact of similar investments in Parks and Green Spaces.
