Shirebrook Masterplan, Bolsover District Council
We worked alongside Taylor Young to develop a masterplan for the town centre over the next 10 years to 2015. The masterplan for the town, a former mining town in North Derbyshire, builds on major investment by the East Midlands Development Agency to bring new employment uses and jobs to the colliery site at Brook Park. The masterplan seeks to improve the retail offer in town, breathe new life into the town centre market place and to link local residents to the newly created employment opportunities. EKOS completed the baseline analysis, helped scope and develop the preferred options and led on the proposals to the take the plan forward. Sonia Coleman, Senior Economic Development Office from Bolsover Council said:
“We were very pleased with the plan which has been well-received by Members. We were impressed by the level of detail produced by the consultants and are keen for the study team to take it forward to the next stage of delivery”.
