ACT NOW GVA STUDY
The Brief: To devise and utilise a methodology for measuring the economic impact of Broadband adoption. Using our experience of business surveys, research techniques and quantification methodologies we delivered the required outputs. The method was so successful that it has now been repeated to measure the changing impact of Broadband over time.
We were commissioned by South West Regional Development Agency to analyse the economic impact that broadband has on business performance in Cornwall, specifically its effect on Gross Value Added (GVA). This involved surveying 250 businesses assisted through the ACT NOW project and a further 250 businesses not signed to broadband. The results of the 2004 survey and a follow up survey in 2005 have provided evidence for the South West Broadband Framework. The Broadband Framework is a tool, developed by the company, which is used to appraise outputs and value for money for sub-regional broadband projects across the South West.
