Local Economic Development
Understanding local economies is a well established strand of the company’s analytical work and fits well with the government's new approach to local growth. The localism/local growth white paper is shifting power to local communities and businesses aspiring to more evenly balanced growth across the country and between industries. The company has conducted comprehensive local economic assessments assisting many clients to better understand the dynamics of their local economy. These include economic geography and linkage studies and wider reviews for a diverse range of locations from Yeovil in the South West to Durham in the North East.
The company provides support on independent economic analysis, appropriate governance arrangements and strategy and policy development. In the field of impact assessment and evaluation, We have assessed projects as well as programmes. This includes Green Book Appraisals of major schemes and project appraisal and development under a variety of funding streams including the Regional Growth Fund. The company was founded on the development and evaluation of Structural Funds and this continues to form a key part of policy and economics work as it evaluates both ERDF and ESF investment under the 2007-2013 programmes.
