ekosgen recently updated its economic impact assessment of The Sharp Project – a successful facility in Manchester that is now home to over 60 digital entrepreneurs and production companies specialising in digital content production, digital media and TV and film production. Drawing on management records held by the client team and a survey of tenants, the assessment showed the scale of employment and GVA growth achieved since a previous assessment was prepared in 2013. Short case studies were also prepared to illustrate the benefits being reported by tenants.
An initial assessment of The Sharp Project’s sister project was also included in the report. The Space Project opened in November 2014 to provide a drama hub for TV and film production and its facilities have been in high demand, accommodating a series of high profile productions and attracting permanent tenants. It has recently been announced that funding has been secured to support the facility’s expansion in response to high levels of demand.
